Celebrating a friend’s milestone 25th birthday, we decided to go with somewhere classy but still friendly for a crowd. So we ended up at Treehouse on a Saturday night to find a wide variety of diners enjoying a meal, in contrast to the usual office worker crowd on weekdays.
The table started with the Charcuterie Board to share and my favourite was definitely the spicy hit of the hot calabrese salami which was a great combo with the pickled chillies, bread and also their addictive tomato relish. I also enjoyed the tapas-esque way the charcuterie board starter allowed the group to test the different offerings on the board: pork/fennel salami, Serrano jamon, manchego and white anchovies.

The boy and I decided to share two mains and first came the Tassie Grass-fed Eye Fillet. We were delighted to find it medium rare as ordered – the meat was quite tender and succulent. The rich and buttery bearnaise sauce went well with it. A side of kipfler potato salad and caramelised eschallots rounded out the dish to soak up the remaining flavoursome juices on the plate.

We also ordered the Pan-fried Chicken Supreme which came on a bed of sweet corn puree and was topped with some greens, roasted cherry tomatoes and jamon. We found the outside of the chicken seared nicely for a slightly crispy texture whilst the chicken meat remained moist and juicy.

For drinks, we shared a pitcher of Mr Winkles Magic Potion a.k.a Pimms and rosso blended with mint, cucumber and ginger. How could you ever go wrong with the classic Pimms and cucumber combo? This sweet concoction was a top pick for the girls on the table and pretty good value for the amount of glasses we got out of the pitcher.

Overall, the combination of wonderful food and gorgeously luxe decor made the Treehouse a great choice for a night out. The boy also mentioned that they served a few craft beers (which is all the rage these days) such as Stone&Wood. Another friend also mentioned that they do weekly lunch specials if anyone is ever out in North Sydney on business and looking for an upmarket lunch spot!
