Ribs & Burgers, Neutral Bay

One of the meatiest and tastiest casual dining chains is Ribs & Burgers, serving up a huge selection of burgers and ribs at affordable prices across Sydney. Today we’re visiting their original branch which is tucked away on a back street just off the main Military Rd surrounded by a plethora of restaurants.

I’ve been to quite a few restaurants in the Neutral Bay area and have passed Ribs & Burgers a few times. What’s noticeable right away is that the environment is very casual – no bookings, just walk-ins. Simply go to the counter, order off the menu and you’ll get given a table number.

Milo Thickshake – $7

To start off, I went for the Milo Thickshake which was so thick when I first received it that it’s quite difficult to suck up the straw. It’s very rich and soooo delicious with bits of crunchy Milo on the top as well. Thankfully it gets easier to drink later on once it melts a bit and we finish it in no time.

Onion Rings – $6

While waiting for our mains to arrive, we order up a side of crispy onion rings to nibble on. Simple yet so delicious, it’s always a good sign when you can still taste a lot of the onion underneath the batter.

 Wagyu Burger – $18.50

The first main dish we try is the Wagyu Burger which features a succulent wagyu beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and onion rings complemented with a BBQ sauce. This burger is very tall, so tall that you’ll need to squash it down a lot with both hands before even fitting it into your mouth. It’s tall with good reason, packed full of juicy flavours from the meaty patty to the crispy onion rings inside which add a nice crunch.

Pork Baby Back – $30

Our other dish are the Pork Baby Back Ribs which have been marinated and slow cooked for 8 hours with their house basting juices. I really like that these ribs are quite short in length making them a lot easier to eat. The meat comes off the bone easily and is coated in a caramelised, sticky BBQ sauce. It’s so filling that we struggle to finish it and is really good value for the price. For those who want some carbs to soak up the BBQ juices, it’s also served with a side of chips!

Ribs & Burgers is a winner in my eyes – it’s tasty and affordable. It also fills the meaty gap in Neutral Bay which is populated with cafes, bars and modern restaurants, but nothing really in the casual dining scene serving up a good honest feed. It’s a great place for the family to pop into and I can’t wait to try out the other burger and rib variations on the menu!
