The popular Goodfields Eatery is located on the main strip of leafy Lindfield across from the station and already has a sizable crowd waiting outside on a Sunday morning when we drop by.
Luckily for us, a table for two frees up relatively soon after we arrive and we get to experience the hustle and bustle inside this breezy, contemporary eatery that has taken the North Shore by storm since it opened last year, serving up all day breakfast and lunch.
We start off with some decent cappuccinos made with Five Senses beans – love the little touch with the cheeky question “another?” appearing inside our cups after our coffees had been drunk to a certain level.
The main reason we had come to Goodfields was to indulge in their famous Lobster brunch dish – showcasing succulent butter roasted lobster tails, poached eggs, a rich crustacean hollandaise and well-seasoned crushed peas nestled inside the lobster tails, all served over seeded bagels. We’re impressed by the quality of the lobster for the price (not much more than what some places around town are charging for non-seafood brunches) and enjoyed the interplay of flavours and textures in the Goodfields rendition of a luxe eggs benedict.

Our other brunch dish was the Eggplant which a surprising highlight of the meal – almost (just almost) overshadowing the Lobster, with a depth of delicious Middle Eastern flavours coming from the masala infused butter and labneh, which gave the poached eggs and addictive crumbed eggplant that hint of spice to elevate it well beyond your usual brunch dish. We added some chorizo on the side and the rich, savoury notes from the base dish and the tasty Spanish sausage ended up making this dish on the heavier side for breakfast but we thoroughly enjoyed it as a lunch substitute.

We loved the laidback vibes at Goodfields Eatery and can see how this has become a neighbourhood favourite so quickly – it’s easily climbed to the top of our North Shore cafe gems and we will definitely be back to try their lunch menu next time.
