Helm Bar, Darling Harbour

Helm Bar is one of those spots which sees a lot of foot traffic go past it thanks to its convenient location sandwiched between the Pyrmont Bridge and Sydney Aquarium, right next to the waterfront at Darling Harbour. If you venture upstairs at Helm Bar, you will find a bar/restaurant which plays up its nautical theme and location with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating options. This is great for basking in the fresh sea breeze and sunshine if the weather permits, like the one sunny Saturday morning we visited to take part in a Bloggers Pizza Making Competition run by Wasamedia PR and Helm Bar. The grand prize? The winning creation goes on the menu at Helm Bar for 3 months and is named after the blog who created it!

We nabbed ourselves a glass of white wine each and added a bowl of crispy fried salmon skin as a bar snack which is part of the Happy Hour deal.

Hurricane’s Grill, Darling Harbour

The constant queues outside all of Hurricane’s outlets in Sydney are a testament to the addictive quality of their signature dish – gloriously marinated ribs. Tonight is no different; our group of 5 gets in early with a 5.30pm booking just before the hungry crowd starts forming outside.

Sepia, Darling Harbour

It’s hard to believe that one of Sydney’s top restaurants has such an unassuming entrance at the bottom of the PwC building near Darling Harbour, but the opulence hits you as soon as you step through the glass doors with the beautiful marble décor around the bar and plush dark carpet underfoot.
