Cafe del Mar, Sydney

For a little slice of the Mediterranean in Sydney, head to the top level of Cockle Bay Wharf for the lavishly decked out Cafe del Mar. The original Cafe del Mar on the gorgeous Spanish island of Ibiza is well known for its view of the sunsets on the island, with beats playing in the background. It seems that the Sydney restaurant is set to continue the tradition with the restaurant’s stunning views over Darling Harbour providing the perfect backdrop to watch sunsets over the water.

Vesta, Darling Harbour

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the tasty and reasonably priced Italian fare that I had at Janus about a year ago, as it’s a pretty hard combo to nail in the Sydney CBD. This year, Janus at Darling Quarter has been rebranded into Vesta, but luckily apart from the new name and menu they have kept their winning formula of delicious Italian dishes at decent prices.

Helm Bar, Darling Harbour

Helm Bar is one of those spots which sees a lot of foot traffic go past it thanks to its convenient location sandwiched between the Pyrmont Bridge and Sydney Aquarium, right next to the waterfront at Darling Harbour. If you venture upstairs at Helm Bar, you will find a bar/restaurant which plays up its nautical theme and location with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating options. This is great for basking in the fresh sea breeze and sunshine if the weather permits, like the one sunny Saturday morning we visited to take part in a Bloggers Pizza Making Competition run by Wasamedia PR and Helm Bar. The grand prize? The winning creation goes on the menu at Helm Bar for 3 months and is named after the blog who created it!

Janus, Darling Quarter

Janus has since rebranded as Vesta Italian

I really like how they’ve revamped Darling Harbour near Tumbalong Park breathing life into an area that used to be served by a lone McDonald’s. Janus is one of the many new sleek restaurants that line the promenade at Darling Quarter, but due to the lack of prominent signage, it is quite easy to miss it. You’ll find it nestled on the corner next to Braza, easily accessible from the main street if you cross the road from Sussex Street.
