Menya Oiden, Sydney

There are a lot of Japanese canteen-style restaurants popping up in Sydney including Hana Hana, Marukame Udon and Tenkomori, just to name a few. I love how they’re all affordable and quick which is perfect if you’re short on change or just need a meal to go. As a huge rice lover, I’ve been meaning to go to Menya Oiden many years ago ever since it opened but somehow just never managed to, until today. Yes!

Vapiano, Town Hall

We’re already fans of Vapiano’s fresh concept of making Italian dishes to order in front of you in a casual dining setting, so when we heard that they were doing some spring specials, we dropped in to see what would be on offer in the warmer months as Sydneysiders come out of hibernation. Gowings Bar & Grill, Sydney CBD

It’s been a while since we last visited Gowings Bar & Grill, and since then they’ve been awarded a hat by the 2014 SMH Good Food Guide – not bad within their first year of business. Situated smack bang in the middle of the city, Gowings features dark and sleek interiors, exuding a cool vibe transporting me to Melbourne, or even the New York restaurant scene. It’s pretty busy for a Saturday night but we’re seated promptly with stunning views overlooking QVB and the bustling George Street.

Becasse Bakery, Westfield Sydney

I’m always admiring the gorgeous sweet treats on show in the glass display case at the Becasse Bakery when I head into the Westfield Sydney food court and today I found out that they taste as great as they look!
