THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED. Mrs Mi’s newest employee never turns up to work late, nor does he ever complain. “He” does have trouble dressing himself though…being a robot and all, and now Chatswood Chase’s newest foodie spectacle, right at the front of the Mrs Mi restaurant off the food court.
Mrs Mi serves up traditional Shanghainese food with a contemporary twist, although they still have staple dishes like the Mrs Mi Xiao Long Bao on the menu, which turned out to be beautifully made with delicately thin skins, plenty of pork filling and delicious broth inside.

The contemporary twist to their dishes shines through with their Assorted Pan Fried Dumplings, which had fillings ranging from sweet taro to salty crab meat. We also had the Spring Onion Pancakes and the Egg Boiled in Soy Sauce, which both turned out to be solid accompaniments, but were nothing special on their own.

We were most intrigued with the robot made noodles, and we were impressed to find that the noodles he churned out were soft and silky. We ordered quite a few noodle dishes to try such as the Signature Pork Mince Noodles, Stir Fried Shredded Pork Noodles, and the Shaved Noodles with Tomato in Clear Beef Soup. Our table’s favourite was the Pork Mince Noodles, which come ready to be tossed and mixed through. We found the mix of soy based blend to be a sour and spicy treat, which went well with the noodles.

The Shanghainese fare served up at Mrs Mi is cheap and cheerful, as expected from one of the members of the Taste of Shanghai group. Although it is one of many dumpling dens in Chatswood now, its convenient location in the shopping centre (right next to New Shanghai) means that you’re sure to satisfy your dumpling cravings if you’re ever in Chatswood Chase.
