Arisun Express and Azoto, World Square

Arisun is a well known local haunt for Korean Fried Chicken in Sydney and it has now expanded its footprint with the newly opened Arisun Express and its sister store Azoto for liquid nitrogen ice cream at World Square. Contrary to its name, Arisun Express is not just about takeaway Korean Fried Chicken (although that’s on offer too), there’s plenty of seating outside in the alley and upstairs if you want to dine in.

Fuku Restaurant, World Square

Fuku is a modern Japanese restaurant situated on the upper restaurant level of World Square, right opposite Din Tai Fung. We’re visiting on a Friday night and Din Tai Fung has the usual longest lines; Fuku is moderately busy but we’re not stuck out waiting in the cold thankfully, so it’s a great option if the Din Tai Fung wait gets your stomach growling. The menu has a nice variety of Japanese classics which have been re-done with contemporary cooking techniques and flavours and there’s also a large menu of Japanese sake and wines, although tonight we just opt for food.

China Republic Express Lunch, Town Hall

Our first encounter with the luxe Chinese food at China Republic was earlier this year, where we feasted on their impressive dinner banquet menu. We’re back for seconds, as China Republic have now introduced an Express Lunch menu at several different price points ($25, $30 and $35), which is perfect for the corporate dining crowd or weekend shoppers in the area.

Cre8 Pasta and Tapas Bar, World Square

Gourmet pasta at a restaurant for under $15 in Sydney sounds like a fanciful notion – but the newly launched Cre8 Pasta and Tapas Bar on the lower ground floor of World Square has made it a reality, allowing its customers to select from their 10 pasta type options (including 4 different types of ravioli) and pair the pasta with a sauce of their choice.

China Republic Restaurant, World Square

Recently Sydney has seen an influx of high-end Chinese restaurants, with two opening up shop in November at the Chinatown-end of the CBD. Today we’re visiting China Republic, located right next to the Ernst & Young entrance at World Square (enter via George St).
