Daisy’s Milk Bar, Petersham

One of the newest cafes to hit Sydney is Daisy’s Milk Bar which is hidden away in Petersham. There isn’t much around the immediate vicinity of Daisy’s, however when we arrive there’s already a line. While waiting, we’re greeted by one of their waitresses who offers us gummy lollies and fairy bread while we wait – so awesome!

Milo Milkshake – $5

We only wait about 10 minutes before being seated and we’re greeted by pastel colours and diner booths inside. The interiors are charmingly cute and match the old style music which plays in the background. To start off, we grab a few milo milkshakes and I especially love how there are crunchy bits of milo on the top, providing some nice texture to the drink.

BBQ Pulled Pork with Slaw – $14

Our table is quite single-minded in our orders and half of us are all drawn to the BBQ pulled pork. With good reason too though; the pork is covered with a sweet BBQ sauce that has spicy undertones and the meat is sandwiched between slices of airy bread. An overall winning dish!

Baked Eggs in Spicy Tomato Sauce with Persian Feta and Chorizo with Toast – $16

The other half of our table go for the baked eggs, which aren’t particularly remarkable compared to the pulled pork dish. There’s plenty of spicy tomato sauce and chunks of tasty chorizo scattered throughout the dish, but the baked eggs themselves are nothing special.

Macaroni Cheese – $5

We also try out the side dish of macaroni and cheese which has a nice creamy and cheesy consistency. I find though that the choice of cheese lacks flavour and the dish definitely needs some salt, pepper and seasoning.

I wouldn’t normally head out to Petersham but now I have a reason to! Daisy’s Milk Bar is a great addition to the growing number of diner-style cafes. It’s quirky, cute, and I can’t wait to return to try more of their dishes.
