I was surprised to discover that the tall new office towers at Barangaroo were starting to open up to new tenants, considering it still looks under construction from afar. But as you draw closer you’ll see that one of the buildings is in fact open and houses a sleek new food court called The Canteen, which is already bustling with office workers.
Los Vida is one of the outlets which has taken up residence within The Canteen, serving up a condensed menu of their quality Mexican fare. The menu at their Barangaroo outpost is definitely aimed at time poor office workers, with a create your own lunch bowl option – choose your meat, fish or veg, then add 2 sides and 2 salads and there’s a great value lunch for $12! We tried out their Beef Bowl with patatas bravas, guacamole, ancient grain salad and pueblo salad, which kept our tastebuds happy with the variety of flavours and textures on offer.

We also tried the Scallop Ceviche, which we’ve had before in the Los Vida restaurant in Westfield Sydney and I was impressed that the food court version didn’t compromise on the calibre of the dish even though it’s served up in a takeaway friendly form. There was a generous amount of diced scallop mixed in with chipotle mayo, cucumber, chives, avocado, pistachios and pomegranate seeds, which was delicious with the crunchy corn chips it came with. One of the fanciest food court dishes I’ve had in a while!

To round things off, we also shared a serving of Los Vida’s Chicken Chipotle wings, which were coated with a sweet cherry chipotle glaze and oven baked. After the awesome Scallop Ceviche, the wings seemed a bit ordinary in comparison.

Los Vida’s new outpost at Barangaroo is ticking all the right boxes for office workers looking for tasty, well priced Mexican takeaway, with quality dishes beyond your standard burritos, tacos and nachos on offer.
