Look no further than the simply named Fitzroy Food & Co if you’re after a casual, yet polished restaurant near the harbour in Kirribilli that has something for everyone. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, but we preferred the trendy, Scandi-chic decor inside where you can watch the chefs work behind the long bar which spans the length of the room.
To kick things off we started with a small plate of Crab and Chorizo Croquettes, a crunchy and creamy blend of two of our favourite things all wrapped up in a lightly crumbed package and paired with a delicious saffron aioli.

Next up we had the Scallop, Serrano and Pea Risotto which comes from their “medium plates” menu, but is actually quite a generous portion. Every element of the risotto had been executed perfectly and melded together to create a risotto that is comforting, creamy but still balanced so that the juicy chunks of scallop still shine through.

We also tried one of their baccello sandwiches, which feature a rustic homemade flat bread that is baked on the stone of the oven and a variety of different fillings. We went for the Chicken Schnitzel with a coleslaw and “Russian dressing” which tasted like a light mayo. I was surprised by how large the sandwich turned out to be as the price suggested it may be a smaller portion, and found it quite difficult to eat due to the size. In terms of the taste, I found it to be fairly average compared to the other two dishes we had ordered and really enjoyed.

This bustling restaurant does a brisk trade both during the day for lunch and dinner, and it’s easy to see why with its quality dishes, extensive menu and sleek decor.
