Bloom, Mosman

The bustling Bloom Cafe on the main shopping strip at Mosman shows that food billed as healthy and clean can also be flavoursome and delicious. It was almost a full house by the time we got in on a weekend at peak brunchtime, which is a testament to the popularity of this cosy cafe with rustic wooden touches.

We started off with their Tea Smoked Salmon Bowl, which had the distinctive scent of a smoked, leafy tea infused into the flaky salmon and was complemented by two nicely poached eggs and some avocado, wilted kale and pickled radish to round out the greens in the bowl. It’s a fresh take on salmon with eggs, and it works well for brunch – all your essential ingredients for a healthy and tasty start to the day.

We also had their Moroccan Baked Eggs, one of our brunch favourites and Bloom’s rendition certainly met our expectations, packed full of juicy flavour from the roasted peppers and cherry tomatoes, together with chorizo and harissa white beans for an exotic touch. We couldn’t go past some grilled haloumi on the side – the chewy morsels went well with the rest of the flavours.

The brunch was rounded off with Bloom’s signature Acai Bowl, featuring the superfood blended with some dates and coconut water, topped off with a pretty display of fresh fruits and crunchy granola. A much cleaner sweet treat than we’d normally get on the weekend but just as delicious as those guilty pleasures – especially with the creamy natural bio yoghurt on the side. We washed all this down with a nice, strong Cappuccino with Campos beans and a “Fruity Juice” which is a refreshing blend of fresh watermelon, pineapple, apple and orange and is great on a warm day.

Acai Bowl, $12.50

Fruity Juice, $7.50 (Large) and Cappuccino (Large), $4.50

After our visit, we’re definitely convinced that clean eating and tasty food are not necessarily mutually exclusive – Bloom balances both with their extensive menu that caters to all types of brunchers and their focus on quality, organic ingredients means you feel great after you’ve tucked into their dishes.
