Nestled amongst office buildings in a precinct not known for their food scene, The Governor presents an exciting new dining and bar destination for weary workers and the local community of Macquarie Park. With beautiful modern finishes mixed with exposed brickwork and timber accents, the Governor Hotel presents an upscale touch to the pub scene.
Dining in the pub area downstairs, the menu offers a mix of classics and large sharing mains. Starting with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with spicy pickles and kewpie mayonnaise, the dish had a good blend of crunchy texture and creaminess from the mayonnaise, finishing on a sour note with the pickles.

The crowd pleaser was definitely the Oven Roasted King Salmon (all 1.2 kg of it!). Coming on top of a huge board with avocado and tamari soy, perfectly done soft eggs, cherry heirloom tomatoes, roasted spring onion and greens. We enjoyed the succulent fish with its crispy skin and it was a perfect sharing dish for a group of 6 – 8 people.

We also shared an amazing Lamb Shoulder with the tender meat falling off the bone. The group enjoyed the servings of buttery meat which was topped with a chimichurri-like dressing and sides of potatoes tossed with sea salt, garlic and rosemary.

Finishing off with sweets, we were treated to a combination platter of their ‘best hits’. Starting with the Fried Apple Pie with vanilla bean gelato, the modern twist on a classic was a nice mix of hot and cold elements. The Molten Mess featuring chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate ganache, honeycomb and anglaise was a flavourful mix of crunchy sweetness topped with a raspberry. The last dessert was a silky smooth Wild Flower Honey Creme Brulee that showcased some honeycomb flavours with a crispy sugary top.

Combining great food with an exciting new cocktail list (ask for The Governor for a twist on the Old Fashioned), this is a contemporary gastropub which the commercial precinct of Macquarie Park has been waiting for and will become a fast favourite amongst the office crowd there.
