Anvil Coffee Co, Crows Nest

We recently noticed that Anvil Coffee Co has popped up at Crows Nest and headed over one weekend to check it out. Turns out it is both a cafe and a grocer, and the clean lines and Scandi chic decor here have already started to draw in the crowds.

The menu is fairly simple, with a focus on fresh, mostly healthy ingredients. From their carefully curated menu we went with their Slow Roasted Salmon, which was deliciously flaky and served with chunks of avocado, enoki mushroom and pops of tasty kimchi laced throughout the brown rice in the bowl. There was also a boiled egg coated with some nori powder, though we would’ve preferred a poached egg for extra sauciness.

Our other chosen dish was the Arabian Eggs, which lived up to its exotic billing with a blend of natural yoghurt, fetta, mint, lemon and dukkah over the poached eggs on crusty toast. We loved the side of caramelised onions which gave it a hit of umami, and also added some chewy halloumi to the dish for extra substance.

Arabian Eggs, $16 with Halloumi, $4

All in all, Anvil Coffee Co is an easy option for a casual brunch in the Crows Nest area with plenty of seating indoors in its bright, airy space and an appealing curated menu featuring quality ingredients.
