Mooberry, Newtown

I know what you’re probably thinking – another froyo place? Sydney is currently chock-a-block full of these frozen yoghurt parlours and it’s getting rather hard to tell them apart…but I can assure you that Mooberry is slightly different from the others because it’s also a dessert bar, serving up warm goodies like Belgian waffles, churros and chocolate souffles to keep the winter chill away. The shop space isn’t that big, but has enough room for a few groups to dine in. Keeping with its Newtown location, it is quirkily decked out with astroturf on the walls, picture frames, mirrors and lots of purple, although surprisingly it doesn’t play on the cow theme too much (apart from its logo).

Yogurberry, Strathfield

Yet another froyo parlour has opened in Sydney! Yogurberry, the international froyo chain set up shop in Strathfield last week, right down the road from 3 other parlours including the likes of Moochi and Noggi. Noggi, Macquarie Centre

When Noggi first opened at Macquarie Centre last year, I was pretty excited because there were no frozen yoghurt stalls in this area, the closest being Pink Guava at Chatswood Chase (which isn’t that good…). Plus, Noggi had free samples and stress toy giveaways! Noggi has since expanded a new store at Strathfield which I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but in the meantime here is a review of the Macquarie one.

Moochi, Strathfield

This restaurant has since closed.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the abundance of frozen yoghurt parlours popping up in recent years? The first (and best one in my opinion) I tried was White Apple near Town Hall in 2008. Not long after, Pink Guava opened at Chatswood Chase, Noggi at Macquarie Centre, Wow Cow at Darlinghurst and a couple more at Harbourside and World Square. Not all of them last unfortunately (R.I.P. White Apple) but the one which seems the be the new “it” place is Moochi at Strathfield.
